A mod about the very real dangers of unexploded ordinance while farming.
History
Somewhere around 1.5 billion artillery shells were fired across all fronts during WWI and up to a quarter of them failed to explode. That left somewhere in the region of 300 million unexploded rounds of buried across parts of Germany, Russia, Belgium and France. The worst affected areas in the latter are known as ‘Zone Rouge’ and the yearly discovery is called the ‘The Iron Harvest’. WWII would compound the problem with millions of tons of aerial bombs scattered across Europe and the Pacific still causing problems to this day.
Over 1000 civilian and ordinance collectors have died in France and Belgium from accidental detonations since 1919.

Gameplay
Zone Rouge brings this element of risk to Farming Simulator 2025. When the mod is enabled, any time you cultivate or plow a field you have a chance to unearth something. Recently sown or planted fields are less likely to have ordinance than meadows or plowing new ground.
When you find something, you’ll have to investigate it and make a choice. Some devices can be recognised as duds if you know what to look for. Most are probably unlikely to explode after so long in the mud and dirt – but there is always a risk. Be gentle! Large knocks and impacts greatly increase the chances of a detonation.
If you’re bold you can carefully move lighter devices to a roadside collection point by hand – or use a tractor or telehandler bucket. The store even sells armored buckets for this purpose that can reduce the damage to your equipment from smaller devices should they explode. For anything really big you might want to call the authorities from the very beginning. They will come out and dispose of it for you – but that might take several hours – hours you aren’t going to be working that field.
For total piece of mind you can buy the Rebo RACK armored tractor from REBO Landmaschinen. This heavily modified John Deere 6R can withstand a blast from almost anything without taking major damage.
