Farming Simulator 25: First steps to take on your new farm!

Do you have no experience playing Farming Simulator games? Some will say that the first step is the hardest one – and in this case, we have to agree. Simulation games can be frustrating and confusing, and FS25 is no exception.

But don’t worry: this super quick go-to guide will provide all the basic help and support you need to go from a complete beginner to a beginner with a functional farm.

What can you do on Farming Simulator 25?

You can do three things in Farming Simulator 25, each offering a different type of “farmer experience.”

  • First up, there’s agriculture. It’s the most obvious one out there. There are plenty of crops for you to grow and loads of different types of machinery. Some of it will be useful for all types of things (trailers store stuff and can be moved around, tractors pull trailers and all sorts of farming equipment), while others are a lot more specialized (stone pickers, cleaning up your field for rocks that could manage other machinery). Agriculture is the money maker, and no big farm expansion can realistically happen without you growing, reaping, and selling some of the crops.

  • Then there’s animal husbandry. That’s your chicken, cows, pigs, and as of FS25 – goats and buffalo. You can raise and sell your grown animals at a small profit, but it’s best to create products from what these animals give you. With the latest updates, you will need to care for animals at different stages of their life and plan well ahead. It can be challenging – but also seriously fun.

  • Finally, there’s forestry. It will be viable only on certain maps, which – you guessed it – have massive forests all around. This can be a little harder and require some investment, but if you have or acquire land with a big forest, it’s an easy way to get some coin.

First steps to take in Farming Simulator 25

First, you must pick the path that interests you the most. Despite you having at least three different paths to take at the beginning, we suggest starting with agriculture. It’s engaging and will help you understand some core game mechanics early on.

Make sure to start the game in a “New Farmer” mode. This is the equivalent of the “easy mode” on most games. While some may scoff at this choice – like me, who always picks “medium” in everything – it’s smart. This way, you will start with enough land and all the basic equipment to do some main farming tasks.

This means you won’t have to worry about choosing a tractor, a cultivator, a seeding machine, and other basic tools. However, If all goes well, you will soon outgrow all the basic-level machinery there. This is when you can try out the best FS25 mods and get some of the best machinery out there, as well as various gameplay mechanic changes that will make the game more exciting and interesting.
